It's Codegarden month!!

The Codegarden schedule is filling up but if this is your first time at Codegarden, make sure you head along to the "The Barn" at 8:30am on the first day. There you will get a welcome to Codegarden from Rune, Carole and Doug.

After the welcome and the keynote speech you'll get a chance to be paired up with a uBuddy.

Today, I'd like to introduce 3 new uBuddies who will be at Codegarden waiting to welcome you.

When was your first time at Codegarden?
2015

Why did you volunteer to be a uBuddy this year at Codegarden?

I know how scary walking into a big conference full of unknown faces is – it's a feeling that never really goes away. But it's always relieving to see the friendly face of someone you know when you arrive. Besides, I enjoy getting to know as much of the community so what better opportunity to meet more people!

How many times have been to Codegarden and what makes you come back?

Every year since my first! There's something about the energy and atmosphere that makes it addictive. You come home exhausted but buzzing with ideas and inspired to do great things!

Where will you be travelling from and on what date? e.g. London

London or Bristol, likely May 21

What's your top tip for Codegarden?

For me Codegarden is about talking to people, so don't feel like you have to go to every session! Sometimes standing at the bar or sitting in the sun outside having a chat is equally as worthwhile. And come and watch UmbraCoffee live of course!

What's the one item you will be packing and couldn't do without?

Bring a small back-pack on the first day otherwise you'll end up carrying all the Umbraco swag you collect around all day like an idiot – yet I still seem to make this mistake every year! ;-) The days after that I generally try to avoid bringing anything with me as I find it gets in the way later...

If you could give your old self some advice about Codegarden, what would it be?

Don't agree to play a REALLY BIG group at a game of "hammerschlagen" (also known as naily-log)... The loser has to buy a round for the whole group, and I know from experience how much that costs in Denmark! Stick to groups of up to 5 people else it might get expensive, it's all good fun though ;-)

Why did you volunteer to be a uBuddy this year at Codegarden?

A means of welcoming new people to code garden and help them overcome the nerves of attending a new event.

How many times have been to Codegarden and what makes you come back?

This will be CodeGarden number 3. I keep coming back for the community, feeling apart of something so welcoming is a great feeling. It pushes my comfort zone each and every time and I always leave inspired.

Where will you be travelling from and on what date? e.g. London

Unknown at this time, but most likely travelling from London on the Tuesday and back on the Saturday

What's your top tip for Codegarden?

Ask questions and speak to new people.

If you could give your old self some advice about Codegarden, what would it be?

Don't be afraid to take a break for yourself, it's easy to burn out from the intensity but 5 minutes will help restore energy.

Why did you volunteer to be a uBuddy this year at Codegarden?

It can be overwhelming when you get there the first time, especially if you travel alone like I did the first time. So it is nice to have somebody show you around and introduce you to people

How many times have been to Codegarden and what makes you come back?

This will be my 5th

Where will you be travelling from and on what date? e.g. London

Amsterdam on the 21st of May

What's your top tip for Codegarden?

Get out of your comfort zone and talk to be people. You will be amazed how friendly everybody is.

What's the one item you will be packing and couldn't do without?

Credit card. So you don't need to get cash.

If you could give your old self some advice about Codegarden, what would it be?

My first codegarden should have been a lot earlier
